The Constitution House of Tabriz was one of the most influential houses on the endorsement of the Constitutional Decree by Mozafar al-Din Shah.
This residential house after the bombardment of the Majlis (parliament) changed to an important place of the decisions of the Constitutional movement during Tabriz’s 11-month wars against government forces.
The strategic location of that house in the neighborhood Tabriz’s grand bazaar and the interest of the owner of that (Haj Mehdi’s Kozekonani) in freedom and fairness made that house the Commuting of the key actors of the Constitutional Revolution, such as Sattarkhan, Bagherkhan and etc.
This historical house built in a land area of 1300 square meters for Haj Mehdi’s Kozekonani by Haj Vali Memar (architecture) with Gajari and Iranian architectural feature in 1868 MD.
This double floor house with a picturesque yard is one of the examples of architecture based on color and light.
The historical role of that building increase elegance of that. Can you imagine discussion and decision-making sessions in front of all-height sash windows and Commuting of the leaders of the Constitutional Revolution on the stairs with high pillars and inlaid doors?
The important materials which used in that building are Stone, Brick, and clay. The first floor has 6 room and a hall. The other floor‘s Tanabi (an oblong hall) is decorated by the grid and colorful glasses. Small rooms in both sides of the hall have been roofed with fretwork woods.
Statues of Sattarkhan, Bagherkhan, Hossein Khan Baghban, Zaynab Pasha, Howard Baskerville, Ali Messi, Segatol Islam and other celebrities of Tabriz and constitutionalists have kept the Constitutionalist spirit alive in that Museum.
Historical documents related to the constitutional revolution, the seals related to the Constitutional Revolution, the hand-made poly-copy machine, SattarKhan weapon, the personal belongings of the other constitutionalists and the Constitutional Carpet are some of the important items that are kept in this collection.
This house is located in front of the mosque in the west of Tabriz grand bazaar in the Raste Kocheh one of Tabriz’s historic neighborhoods.
